Characteristics

 

They are large and vary brightly colored birds. Toucans have large colored bills that are vary light weight. A toucan’s bill often curves downward at the tip. On the edge of the toucan’s bill are serrations that look like teeth. They also have a long tongue with a brushy tip. For the toes of a toucan they have two toes pointing forward and two toes pointing backward. The skin around the eye is often bare, without feathers, and often brightly colored.
